Growing up in Boone years ago I remember one of the most beautiful views you could find was where the Lincoln Highway crossed the Des Moines river west of Boone, Iowa in the fall of the year!

There is an awesome interactive map available on the Lincoln Highway Association’s website https://www.lincolnhighwayassoc.org/map/. You can zoom in on any area across the nation and see more details.

If you would like a paper turn-by-turn “Map Pack” of the Iowa route, the Iowa Lincoln Highway Association sells those for $10 plus $5 for shipping. You can contact me at my email jgammon@prrcd.org to order one. Be sure to include your shipping address. We’ll get one out to you right away.

The Iowa Byways are also marked on Transportation Maps available from the Iowa DOT. Red dots define the entire route.
